KITS
a. Installation Kits are available for the vehicles listed in paragraph 3-1, Vehicle Nomenclature Index.
This index lists, for each vehicle, a later paragraph in Section III, which identifies:
(1) Radio/electronic equipment configurations available for the vehicle,
(2) The nomenclature of the corresponding Installation Kit (MK-XXXX),
(3) The National Stock Number (NSN) of that kit.
(4) The Technical Bulletin (TB) which contains instructions for installing the Installation Kit.
b. Paragraphs 3-2 through 3-91 list tactical (wheeled) and administrative/commercial type vehicles,
combat (tracked) vehicles and electronic systems. The following guidance is provided:
(1) Tactical (wheeled) and Administrative/Commercial Type Vehicles.
(a) The tactical (wheeled) and administrative/commercial type vehicles will be authorized
separately in the authorization document (TOE/MTOE/TDA/MTDA) by the line item number(s) (LIN) shown in
SB 700-20 less the basic radio and the Installation Kit. The consignee is responsible for requisitioning the
communications equipment and the Installation Kit, if not already installed in the vehicle.
(b) When transferred or returned for overhaul, storage or to supply channels, only the
radio/electronic equipment will be removed from the vehicle. The radio/electronic equipment may be installed in
another appropriate vehicle or returned to supply channels if no longer required. DO NOT remove the
Installation Kit from the vehicle.
(2) Combat (tracked vehicles) and Electronic Systems.
(a) Combat (tracked) vehicles/electronics systems will be authorized separately in the
authorization documents (TOE/MTOE/TDA/MTDA) by the line item number(s) (LIN) shown in SB 700-20 less
the basic radio and the DH-132 Helmet. All combat vehicles/electronic systems will have an AN/VIC-3(V)
installed where required. The consignee is responsible for requisitioning the communications equipment and the
Installation Kit, if not already installed in the vehicle.
(b) When transferred or returned for overhaul, storage or to supply channels, only the
radio/electronic equipment will be removed from the vehicle. The radio/electronic equipment may be installed in
another appropriate vehicle or returned to supply channels if no longer required. DO NOT remove the
Installation Kit from the vehicle.
(c) The installation harness will remain in the vehicle when it is transferred or returned for
overhaul.
