a. Basic Radio Set. Determine the nomenclature and type of basic radio to be mounted in a specific type
of vehicle. The line item number(s) (LIN) shown in SB 700-20 will authorize radios separately in the
authorization document. The radios shall be removed from the vehicle when the vehicle is transferred, returned
for overhaul or placed in storage.
b. NSN for Basic Radio Set. The NSNs for the basic radio sets are listed in Section IV.
c. Installation Kit.
(1) The Installation Kit is required to install a given type of radio in a given type of tactical or
administrative commercial type (wheeled) vehicle or to convert the wiring harnesses of combat (tracked) vehicles
or electronic systems to SINCGARS or EPLRS.
(2) The Installation Kit must be requisitioned separately. The user will install the installation kit
on/into the vehicle in the field.

Special tools and test equipment are not required for the Installation Kits or accessory kits. The tools and test
equipment required for maintenance of a specific configuration are listed in technical manuals (TMs) and repair
parts and special tools lists (RPSTLs) covering individual radio sets.
