NET OPENING
Your RT needs special data to operate in a frequency hopping (FH) mode. You, the operator load some data and the NCS
ERFs the rest. Always keep in mind that your NCS directs net opening, and that you must listen to NCS commands
carefully. Cold start net opening is the procedure used to open a net. If net is to be opened in CT, refer to page 239 for
information on loading COMSEC keys into the KY57.
COLD START NET OPENING. After the necessary FH data has been loaded into your RT in preparation for a cold start
net opening, the NCS will send additional data to your RT. This is called an ERF. You will be directed through the net
opening by the NCS.
